This year, the Vancouver Classical Guitar Society (VCGS) has allocated funds to support the artistic goals of local students and professionals committed to developing their craft. We hope to make this bursary a recurring feature of our annual programming.
Join us February 6–8, 2026 for the Edmonton Guitar Seminar, an immersive two-day retreat for classical guitarists to deepen their craft, build connections, and make music together in an inspiring setting.
Set at the Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert, Alberta, the weekend includes small-ensemble coaching, master classes with guest artist René Izquierdo, and shared musical experiences for all levels.
The 33rd Annual Northwest Guitar Festival will be in Victoria, BC from March 20th-22nd, 2026.
The festival will include adult and youth competitions, workshops, guitar orchestra, a luthier expo, and concerts by Leonela Alejandro (2024 GFA winner), Michael Partingon (WA), Robert Wang (BC), and Marsello Avilez (AB).
Leonela Alejandro, 2024 GFA Rose Augustine Grand Prize winner, is a rising star from Puerto Rico captivating audiences worldwide.
With over a dozen top prizes to her name, including major U.S. and international competitions, her powerful, expressive playing and orchestral soloist appearances mark her as one of today’s most exciting classical guitarists.
Italian guitarist Aurora Orsini makes her Canadian debut with VCGS! A rising star across Europe, she’s won top prizes, performed under maestros like Zubin Mehta, and collaborated with major orchestras.
With degrees from Alicante and Boccherini Conservatoire, Orsini brings virtuosic flair and fresh artistry to the world stage.
