The 5th annual Okanagan Guitar Festival returns to Kelowna August 6 - 8 with three stellar classical guitar concerts featuring festival favorites, award-winning virtuosos and a remarkable teen prodigy. The lineup includes Simon Farintosh, Alec Pearson, Vivian Chen (harp), Tejay Liao and Catherine Huo.
The 7th Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival, presented in collaboration with VCGS and sponsored by Capilano University, is a unique opportunity for guitarists of all levels to join in masterclasses, workshops and a guitar ensemble, and for music lovers to be inspired by faculty concerts by the legendary Argentine guitarist-composer Maximo Diego Pujol, and local guitar champions Michael Kolk, Iminah Kani, Vinny Linhares and Luis Angel Medina.

Come enjoy a Saturday night filled with authentic Latin rhythms and flamenco at Moose's Down Under Bar and Grill on June 27th from 8pm onward! Be entertained by the energetic classical guitars and fiery violin of the up-and-coming flamenco trio Tango for 2 made up of Noah Ferrer-Palchenko, Gabriela Pimental and Cat De Mello. Only a $5 cover fee to unlock a night brimming with dancing and energy.
Traditional Chinese music is full of beautiful stringed instruments like the erhu, pipa, guzheng and zhongruan. Enjoy them all and more at The Night is Luminous with Stars, the closing concert of the Canadian Multicultural Arts Festival. The concert showcases a vibrant selection of traditional Chinese music performed by award-winning and talented musicians across different age groups.

Two of BC’s finest classical guitarists and teachers Simon Farintosh from the University of Victoria and Alec Pearson from UBC and Vancouver Academy of Music invite you a shared recital they are presenting on May 1st, at 7 pm at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
Matthew Dimas is a 4th-year undergrad student at the University of British Columbia and a regular performer at VCGS events. Come enjoy this recital, which is a part of his degree requirements. It’s at 1:30 pm on Friday, May 1st at Roy Barnett Hall, UBC School of Music.
Noah Ferrera-Palchinski is a 1st year masters student at the University of British Columbia and a regular performer at VCGS events. Come enjoy this recital, which is a part of his degree requirements. It’s at 1:30 pm on Saturday, April 18th at Roy Barnett Hall, UBC School of Music. This event is free to the public.
Vinny Linhares is a Masters student at the University of BC. Born in Brazil, he’s also already an accomplished and award winning classical guitarist. Join him for Retrato Brasileiro, a concert of Brazilian Music for the Classical guitar. This event is free for the public.
Our final artist of the concert season, Italian virtuosa Aurora Orsini, will give a masterclass at the Canadian Music Centre on Davie Street. This class is free to audit and we have spaces open for registration for those who wish to participate.
