VCGFest 2025 launches at the library.
Beethoven described the classical guitar as an 'orchestra in a box' for its colour and range of sounds. Come and experience classical guitar at its finest with a free opening concert by Luis Angel Medina on Wednesday, July 16th, 2 pm in Level 8 Grand Staircase. The concert launches the 6th annual Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival July 17-20 at Capilano University with a star faculty providing concerts, masterclasses and workshops for guitarists and music lovers.

Miloš Karadaglic
Our friends at the Vancouver Recital Society present guitar virtuoso Miloš! The Montenegrin marvel’s meteoric rise to fame started in 2011 after the release of his hugely popular debut album ‘Mediterraneo’. Since then, Miloš Karadaglic has earned legions of fans around the world for his sensitive, charismatic performances and six chart-topping recordings. He was selected by BBC Music Magazine as one of the ‘Six of the Best Classical Guitarists of the Past Century’.

Christine Tassan et les Imposteures
The Rogue Folk Club presents Christine Tassan et les Imposteures, a celebrated gypsy jazz and swing band.
Founded in 2003 by classically trained guitarist Christine Tassan, inspired by Django Reinhardt, the band has performed over 600 shows across Quebec, Canada, Europe, the U.S., and China, becoming a standout in the gypsy jazz scene.

Luis Angel Medina
The Erato Ensemble presents Heritages, a concert by Luis Angel Medina. Luis is an accomplished performer and a driving force in Vancouver’s classical guitar community. He is founder and director of the Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival and a guitar instructor at Capilano University. Known for his deep musicality, technical mastery, and exquisite sound, Luis brings all of this to a concert featuring the works of Julio César Oliva, Dale Kavanagh, Manuel Ponce and Mauro Guiliani.

Raphaël Feuillâtre
The Vancouver Recital Society presents Raphaël Feuillâtre. Raphaël was born in Djibouti, on the northeastern coast of Africa, raised in Western France and studied at the Conservatoire de Nantes and later at the Paris Conservatoire. He made his international breakthrough as the 2018 winner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America. Since then, Raphaël’s burgeoning career has taken him around the world, where he has dazzled audiences with his playing. In 2021, he performed for the Vancouver Classic Guitar Society.
