Event Information
The recital will take place on July 29 at 7:30, at Garden City Community Park (6620 Garden City Rd, Richmond), weather permitting. There is free parking beside the stage. Please bring a folded chair or a blanket to sit on.
No tickets are required; however, donations will be appreciated.
Owen Wang, age 16, and Vivian Wang, age 14, are siblings from New Jersey, US. They began playing guitar at five and four respectively at Galina's Guitar Studio in Richmond, BC. In 2020 (Owen) and 2021 (Vivian), they were accepted to the GFA Mentorship Program where they continued to study under the guidance of Professor Denis Azabagic. In 2021 they became members of the NJMEA Honors Guitar Ensemble of New Jersey under director Jason Martinez.
Owen and Vivian are the prizewinners of multiple competitions, including the Chicago Guitar Competition, Long Island National High school Guitar Competition, Philadelphia Classical Guitar Competition, Indiana International Guitar Competition, etc. Owen also won 4th place in the 2022 GFA International Youth Competition Senior Group.
As a Classical Guitar Duo, they have performed at many festivals, including Johns Hopkins University - Peabody Institute Fret Fest, William Paterson University GuitarFest, The Long Island Guitar Festival, and the GFA opening for Bokyung Byun's Concert. Their duet performances have also been featured on From the Top Daily Joy Channel. Moreover, Owen and Vivian have created four segments for the GFAtv youtube teaching channel throughout 2021.
