VCGS Presents: Dale Kavanagh

  • 843 Seymour Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 0G4 (map)

She’s been described as technically flawless, sonically brilliant, and a poet on the guitar.  Don’t miss the unstoppable Canadian classical guitar virtuoso and composer Dale Kavanagh on Saturday, March 23rd at 7 pm at Pyatt Hall.  Her list of accomplishments is breathtaking: more than 1,000 recitals in over 40 countries, dozens of original compositions, 20 plus recordings, and hundreds of masterclasses.  Dale Kavanagh is truly a classical guitar legend.

Born in Halifax, she studied at Dalhousie University, the University of Toronto, and the Banff Centre before going on to earn the top prize in Spain’s Segovia competition, Italy’s Gargnano competition, Switzerland’s Neuchatel competition and many more.

Since then, the highly acclaimed guitarist has built a dazzling career composing, recording and performing internationally as a soloist, with orchestras and as part of the Amadeus Guitar Duo.

Her Vancouver concert program entitled ‘Contrasts’ will showcase her masterful range from the renaissance works of Michael Praetorius, through the 19th century romantics Fernando Sor and Niccolo Paganini to the contemporary Roland Dyens and Carlo Domeniconi.   Plus, you’ll hear her own beautiful compositions, many inspired by places and people she loves.
