Don’t miss first prize winner of five prestigious international competitions, Spanish classical guitarist Ignacio Rodes in his Canadian debut Saturday, March 4th at Pyatt Hall.  Hailed as one of the finest guitarists of his generation, the Vancouver Classic Guitar Society presents Ignacio Rodes in person and live stream with a pre-concert performance by up-and-coming UBC School of Music guitarists.

He studied with the great José Tomás, a major influence on the evolution of classical guitar technique who trained many of today’s greatest guitarists.  Now a master teacher himself, Ignacio is a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Alicante and director of the Master in Classical Guitar Performance at the University of Alicante.

Ignacio has performed as a soloist and with orchestras around the world, from Frankfurt to Cairo to Vietnam and now Vancouver.  His program will include works by J.S. Bach, Robert de Visee, Manuel de Falla and Joaquin Turina.  Ignacio has also released six highly praised CD’s.
