The Vancouver Classic Guitar Society, in association with Concerts for our Grandchildren's World, and War Child, are pleased to bring the Orontes Guitar Quartet to Vancouver, for a special benefit concert.
The Orontes Quartet had began to shape a career for themselves in Syria, despite the many struggles of the country, when they were able to obtain a special fellowship, The Artist Protection Fund, and come to Canada. The Orontes Quartet was featured several times on Syrian television, performing conciertos and guitar quartets of many different styles, from many different cultures, and from many different time periods.
Having been in Canada for nearly a year already, the Orontes quartet has had many articles written about them, most notable in the Globe and Mail but also UVIC news and BC Local News.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the charity War Child, who help children in war torn areas of the world, reclaim their childhood.
