Winner of numerous first place prizes in North American guitar competitions and recognized at an early age for his exceptional musicality, Michael Kolk has performed at music festivals and concert halls in Italy, Estonia, Germany, USA, and Canada.

The spirited and sensitive play and inventive arrangements of the Henderson-Kolk Duo (with guitarist Drew Henderson) have resulted in concert engagements across Canada as well as two successful CDs to date. In 2011 the Duo performed at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America Conference in Columbus, Georgia and served as adjudicators for the GFA competition.

Michael has collaborated with a variety of musicians.  He made his orchestral debut with the Toronto Philharmonia Orchestra in 2011 performing Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez,  he has appeared on CTV and CBC TV as accompanist to featured vocalists and he is a member of the rock band Delusion Manifesto

Originally from Vancouver, Michael now lives and teaches in Toronto. He holds a Performer’s ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Master’s Degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Toronto.
