Introducing the first lady of the classical guitar – international superstar Sharon Isbin. Hailed as the reigning diva of the guitar, Ms. Isbin has performed at a wide range of venues, from the White House to Ground Zero. She has appeared as soloist with over 160 orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the National Symphony, the Orchestre National de France, and the London Symphony, and has been profiled in periodicals from People to The Wall Street Journal, as well as on the cover of 45 magazines. The winner of multiple Grammy awards, Ms. Isbin comes to Bellingham to perform the mesmerizing Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo.
This concert will be conducted by the fourth of our Music Director finalists. Maestro Yaniv Attar was drawn to classical music at an early age, and studied in Jerusalem, London, New York and Montreal, where he earned his Doctor of Music at McGill University. As Assistant Conductor of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in Birmingham, Maestro Attar conducted nearly 100 concerts.
